Jordan Ekland
Physiotherapist MCPS HCPC Registered

Hi, I'm Jordan.

I am a Musculoskeletal physiotherapist with years of experience in managing pain and injuries in a large range of people from all different backgrounds and activity levels. I have spent the last few years working as a lead physiotherapist in my hometown of Bristol and made the move up to Sheffield last year to enjoy more of the outdoors. I am a specialist in managing long-term pain conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia and chronic back pain alongside treating a wide range of problems in the hip and knee with a particular interest in conditions affecting the shoulder.

I use a range of treatment conditions, such as manual therapy including massage, joint mobilisations, tendon friction work. Alongside working with people to manage lifestyle adjustments, work on rehabilitation plans and find ways to weave rehab work into your day to day life to get you back doing the things you love as quickly as possible! I will assess all aspects of your situation and help break down the likely causes of your restrictions and work with you to make a plan that is accessible and manageable so we set you up to thrive rather than fail.

In my spare time you can find me climbing in the peak district, fishing or playing the piano - and from a distance, most likely hear me currently learning to play the saxophone!

Do you have any question?

You will sit down with our experienced physiotherapist, and they will talk through your conditions and concerns around this alongside looking at what your goals and expectations are from physiotherapy. You will then go through a physical assessment aimed to be as quick as painless as possible to get the information needed for diagnosis without causing unnecessary distress. After this, you'll have your condition explained in a manner accessible to you, have options for management explained and usually start some treatment or some exercises depending on how you feel and what appears most appropriate for your situation.

Assessment and treatment techniques are aimed to prevent causing worsened pain. Sometimes techniques can be aggravating and you will be in control the entire time to ensure you are comfortable with what is happening and prevent any unnecessary discomfort.

Not at all! As part of treatment here, you will likely receive different forms of hands on treatment, advice and education around managing your condition, taping, self massage advice alongside exercises which will be designed to fit into your situation and allow a quick return to doing what you love to do!

This all depends on your condition, how long it has been going on for and your general goals around it. Most importantly it revolves around your choice and what you feel comfortable doing - want more oversight and contact to keep you on track? We can provide more regular input and supervision. Feel you want some advice and to space appointments out in between? We can set you up with a plan to work on alone!

Yes absolutely we can help with most orthopaedic operations, the best time to start physiotherapy when having an operation is before you have it usually! We can work on strengthening and pain management prior to surgery and following the operation can immediately begin working on getting you back on your feet and moving towards full recovery quicker.
